Jon Elton
our leader
Jon grew up in Edmonton where his father managed radio station CJCA. Growing up in and around the radio business, Jon worked as everything from the station mascot, a Tiger, to an aspiring late night disc jockey, and knew from a young age he wanted to continue to be in that business is some way. In 1974, after a 2-year mission for his church in France and Belgium, and graduating from Brigham Young University in French and Communications, Jon moved to Vancouver with his wife Mary, and new baby, Matthew, and started to work.
After a year with a small promotional agency called Adpro Marketing, he went to work for BCTV as an account exec, selling Television advertising. After 2 years he joined a small creative agency named Adams and Brown, where he caught the advertising agency bug. That company went out of business after a year, and Jon, with his two most important accounts, joined Baker Lovick Advertising, one of the largest agencies in Vancouver at the time. After 2 years with Lovick, he left to join KVOS-TV as an Account Executive, but his passion for the agency business continued, and he started his own small agency on the side, ProCom Marketing, to work directly with a few clients, which he maintained during his 6 years at KVOS. On leaving KVOS in 1986 Jon changed the name of his agency to Elton Advertising, and went full time into the agency business where he has worked ever since.
Jon enjoys working with clients, and gets great satisfaction in taking projects from concept to completion. He loves the creative process, and has been involved in creating many campaigns over the years. Having worked in the radio and TV business, he has a unique perspective on how media works and enjoys using that knowledge to negotiate creative and efficient media buys for his clients. Jon has earned a reputation as a clever media negotiator that understands how these mediums work.
He has stayed involved in his Church, and community work, having served as a Bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mormon, as well as many other positions including Scout Master. He looks for opportunities to do charity work, and has been involved in a number of different groups including: Union Gospel Mission, Salvation Army, Welcome Home and the African Dental Clinic mission.
Jon and Mary have raised 6 children, and now have 10 grand children that they love to spoil. He enjoys playing squash, skiing, boating, traveling the world, spending time in Palm Springs, and he recently started on his book.
