THE
Evolution OF ELTON
Elton Media began in 1980 when Jon Elton started a company called
ProCom Marketing. Until that time, Jon had spent significant years
as a TV sales rep for two Vancouver TV stations, BCTV and KVOS,
and account executive for two Vancouver ad agencies, Adams &
Brown and Baker Lovick.
In 1985, we changed our name to Elton Advertising and moved into
funky warehouse space in the then-inexpensive Yaletown. Having acquired
the United Furniture account, which was growing quickly, we expanded and
moved uptown to Pender Street offices and grew to thirteen employees.
From the beginning, we channeled our passion for technology into
developing a production facility to complement our media buying
and marketing. In 1987, we got our first Mac Computer and began doing our
own production. In 1994, we bought our first digital non-linear
video editing system. Since then, we have continued to adapt and grow our production facilities to keep pace with rapidly changing technology as the technology rapidly changes.
In 2001, after 17 years with *United Furniture Warehouse, they
took their advertising in-house, which turned out to be a great time to move our offices and a video-editing suite to our current offices in beautiful West Vancouver. Now we boast not only the
best view, but we're one of the leanest and most efficient ad agency/production
houses in Vancouver.
We still answer to Elton Advertising, Elton Communications and
now Elton Media. In fact, we'll answer to anything that begins
with Elton.
* During our time with United Furniture Warehouse, they grew
from 3 stores to over 160 stores throughout Canada and the Western
United States, and it was quite a ride.
